A test tank is formed from two parallel rails, each rail bearing a right angled support. The horizontal section (2) of each right angled support has two unidirectional sensors with vertical axes while the vertical section (6) has one unidirectional sensor with a horizontal axis. The three sensors on each support are attached to a take up arm (16) by pivoted connecting rods (12,14,20). The two take up arms (16) on the two parallel rails and two right angled supports are joined by a support beam (22) which bears one end of the section to be tested (P).
