A system for producing dry air with a constant oxygen content to be distributed to a network of dry air users (32), contains a compression and treatment unit (20) including an air dryer (50) and has a buffer capacity (30) connected downstream of the compressor and treatment unit to absorb fluctuations in demand and to eliminate variations in the oxygen content of the dry air fed to the network. A method of producing and distributing dry air with a constant oxygen content starting with ambient air by: compressing ambient air, treating it by drying and filtration, homogenising the treated air at a pressure greater than that of distribution and distributing the dry air with a constant oxygen content. |
