Bevel gear pair for motor vehicle transmissions

Disclosed is a bevel gear pair comprising a first bevel gear wheel (12) and a second bevel gear wheel (10), at least one of which is provided with teeth finished by grinding. The teeth of the first bevel gear wheel (12) are finished by honing or by grinding with subsequent honing. The teeth of the second bevel gear wheel (10) are ground only. The first bevel gear wheel (12) is preferably a pinion and the second bevel gear wheel (10) a level gear. Pairing the honed or ground and honed teeth of the pinion (12) with the ground teeth of the level gear results in a high noise reduction, thus obviating the need for lapping after milling and hardening, with the associated drawbacks, used for hypoid gears manufactured in the conventional way.
