The screened (3) potatoes and additions are taken over in the same direction by a rubber pegged belt (2). The potatoes are ploughed off to either side and fed to an elevator (4). The additional material is transferred onto a transverse belt acting as sorter (6). The ploughing operation is performed by rotary brushes, belt or brush bands. In a variant, the ploughing effect depends on a set of rotating rollers only. The bottom strand of the belt (2) is led round the transverse elevator and the upper strand of the elevator runs through between the top and bottom strands of the rubber belt. The stream of potatoes is brushed over to the sides and on to the sorting belt (6) where misdirected potatoes etc. are removed by hand and transferred to the elevator.
