Determining ion concentration of solution

The method involves passing intermittently, from an injection valve (4), a specimen solution (6) and a carrier solution (5) to both sides of an ion selective membrane (1). Pump (3) electrically isolates one side from the other. Reference electrodes (7), positioned on either side of the membrane, allow measurement by voltmeter (10) of the potential difference between the two sides of the membrane. The supply of the two solutions can be controlled so that, at discrete time intervals, the specimen solution flows on one side of the solution and the carrier solution on the other.
