Liq. crystal side-chain polymers, used for orientation layers

摘要

Thermotropic side-chain liq. crystal (LC) polymers of formula (I) are new. In (I): R1 = alkoxy; R2 = alkyleneoxy, halogen or CN; and m = 10-100. Also claimed are ferroelectric liq. crystal displays (FLCD) with a pair of upper and lower substrates, transparent electrodes on each substrate, orientation layers contg. polymer (I) on the electrodes and a ferroelectric LC material injected between the orientation layers.
