A combination of an IC engine and various electric generators form several modules which can be switched on or off as required. This is done to match the power output to the total power requirement of the generators. The generators use a controller for their power output. The engine modules all run constantly at their rated load while they are switched on. A clock measures the operating time of each module and the generator controller can switch them on or off so that they all have the same total run-time.
