The answer gathering system allows gathering of candidates responses to questions presented by displaying a sequence of images or sounds. A controlling computer (10,30) controls delivery of questions, and triggers an emitter (12) that sends out an electromagnetic signal carrying synchronisation codes that link to the sequence of questions. The candidates operate terminals (20), each connected to the controller. The terminals have detectors that receive the synchronisation signals. The answer is entered at a keypad by the candidate. The candidates answer together with the synchronisation code is stored in memory for processing by the controlling computer.
