Described is an electronic device (1), intended in particular for the safety of vehicle occupants, with two voltage transformers (3, 5) which are controlled by a microcontroller (9) in dependence on the voltage of the vehicle battery (2). One of the transformers (3) is used to charge up a condensor (4), used as a reserve power supply, to a higher voltage. If the battery (2) breaks down, the other transformer (5) reduces the voltage of the condensor (4) to a low value.
