PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device with a wire replacement function for a wire electric discharge machine, in order to focus on a wire electrode among consumables of a wire electric discharge machine and realize wire electrode replacement without stopping continuous operation and without requiring manpower when the wire electrode has reached replacement time.SOLUTION: A control device 10 for a wire electric discharge machine includes: wire residual life time monitoring means 11; electric discharge machining time calculation means 12; and wire replacement timing determining means 13. Accordingly, the control device recognizes timing at which electric discharge machining is interrupted, and controls the wire electric discharge machine according to this timing so that program operation is temporarily stopped (program operation stopping command means 14), a wire electrode is cut (wire cutting means 20), the wire electrode is automatically replaced using wire replacement means 21, and so that, after the wire electrode replacement, the wire electrode is connected (wire connection means 22) and the program operation is resumed (program operation resumption command means 15).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
