PURPOSE:To provide a small-size inverter unit having a self-quenching semiconductor element, by dividing a filter capacitor and providing the inverter in a line with the filter capacitor. CONSTITUTION:An inverter unit comprises a three-phase inverters 22U, 22V, and 22W having a self-quenching semiconductor element, and a filter capacitor 21 on the-DC side of the three-phase inverters 22U, 22V, 22W. The filter capacitor 21 is divided into four and the divided filter capacitors 21 are put at each middle point and both ends of the inverters 22U, 22V, and 22W, while three phases of the inverters 22U, 22V, and 22W are put in series. The amount of wiring inductance depends on a length of wiring to the filter capacitor. In this case, the wiring length between the GTO of the inverters and the filter capacitors becomes very short so that an overcurrent generated at turn-off of the GTO can be absorbed through a smaller snubber capacitor. |
