PURPOSE:To raise the activity in initial period and enhance the discharging characteristic by leaving at a temp. over the room temp. in the condition that negative electrode has occluded hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:MnNi3.55Mn0.4Al0.3Co0.75 is used to a hydrogen absorption alloy for negative electrode, and when left in an atmosphere over 30 deg.C in the condition that the negative electrode has occluded hydrogen over 10%, preferably 10-90% of the hydrogen occluding capacity of the alloy, active Ni metal of Co metal is liberated associate with oxidation of rare earth metal on the surface of the alloy of Mn-Ni-Mn-Al-Co. This active Ni or Co metal acts as catalyst in hydrogen occluding and emitting reactions. This promotes the discharging reaction of the negative electrode as battery. |
