<p>A method for disintegrating paper which has been reinforced with wet strength resin comprises contacting the paper with a hemicellulase, e.g. xylanase, mannanase or galactosidase. This may be done in an initial mixing soaking or pulping stage and may be followed by a treatment with an acid, alkali, oxidising agent or combination. A surfactant, redox control agent or enzyme protecting agent may be added.</p> |
