The present invention relates to a bidirectional hybrid power device configured to be operated in bidirectional modes including an AC mode and a DC mode. Provided is a method for controlling the bidirectional hybrid power device, configured to operate the power device in a selected mode by controlling switches of the power device in order to secure excellent performance with regard to various operation conditions. According to the present invention, the bidirectional hybrid power device comprises: an inductor unit; a MOSFET switch circuit; a bridge rectification circuit; and a control unit.
