Various embodiments of the present invention generally relate to an apparatus for generating a pause section for a processing unit and a switch circuit by buffering at least one packet in a buffer for at least one output/input (I/O) port, a method thereof and an another technique. An embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: allowing the processing unit and/or the switch circuit to be operated in a low-power state during the pause section; and allowing the processing unit and/or the switch circuit to be released from the low-power state by transmitting at least one out-of-band message to the processing unit and/or the switch circuit. Thereby, electronic power consumption can be remarkably reduced.
