The present invention provides steel having excellent machinability and vibration damping ability, which comprises: 0.80-1.20 wt% of C; 2.0-3.0 wt% of Si; 0.01-1.00 wt% of Mn; 0.01-0.03 wt% of Al; 0.001-0.010 wt% of Mg; an amount equal to or less than 0.030 wt% of P; an amount equal to or less than 0.030 wt% of S; 0.002-0.006 wt% of B; 0.004-0.008 wt% of N; an amount equal to or less than 0.005 wt% of O; and the remainder consisting of Fe and inevitable impurities.
