<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and optimally illuminate a road ahead of a vehicle by automatically controlling adjustment means so that a minimum beam range does not drop below the actual stopping distance of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A control means 60 continuously receives speed data Dv from a speed sensor 40 and receives data De indicating an actual steering angle from a steering angle detector 30. Road condition data Ds and weather information Dw input to an input means 80 by a driver are input to the control means 60, together with fixed preset data Df about the characteristics of the vehicle such as the kind of the vehicle and tires. The control means 60 determines the settings of the reflector of a headlamp unit and a lamp unit 70 at optimum values according to these data. The road ahead of the vehicle is surely and optimally illuminated by automatic control such that a minimum beam range does not drop below the actual stopping distance of the vehicle.</p> |
