PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine composition containing a tumor necrosis factor, for promoting and enhancing the regeneration of injured axons of central nerve system. CONSTITUTION: This medicine composition is obtained by properly formulating the tumor necrosis factor(TNF for short), preferably a human recombinant TNF-αwith a pharmaceutically permissible carrier or excipient. The composition is effective for treating nerve disorder, acute or subacute neutral nerve disorder caused by pressure or ischemia, such as glaucoma, preischemic optic nerve disease, spinal cord disorder and disorders of optic nerve and auditory nerve and is also effective for alleviating bilateral paralysis, acroparalysis, blindness, etc., after disorder. Preferably the TNF is administered immediately after occurrence of a disorder to be treated, namely is suitable for acute disorder than chronic disorder. Effects can be enhanced, for example, by irradiating an injured site with a lowenergy He-Ne laser.
