PURPOSE: To provide a lowly smoking flame-retardant resin compsn. excellent in flame retardancy. CONSTITUTION: 100 pts.wt. olefin resin contg. at least one polyethylene selected from the group consisting of (A) polyethylene having a density lower than 0.91g/cm<3> , (B) ethylene copolymers, and (C) polyethylene and modified polyethylene having a density of at least 0.91g/cm<3> is blended with 70-160 pts.wt. inorg. flame retardant represented by the formula: Mg1-x Nix (OH)2 (wherein x is 0.01 to 0.2), and 4-12 pts.wt. carbon, provided that the respective amts. A, B and C of the components (A), (B) and (C) to be blended satisfy the relationship of (A+B)/(A+B+C)}×100>=20. B/(A+B+C)}×100<50.
