<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop the tape from traveling by analyzing rotation cycles of a reel by a tap driving device according to the tape travel mode, and detecting the recording start and recording end positions of the tape. SOLUTION: The tape driving device stores the reference number of pluses corresponding to the rotation of the reel in the form of a table at the recording end position of the tape based upon hub size. To control the travel of the tape, the hub size at the time of tape insertion is found and according to the size, the reference number of pluses corresponding to one rotation of the reel at the recording end position of the tape is calculated. Then the tape travel mode is entered and the current reel rotational frequency is detected and compared with the reference number of pluses. When the current number of reel pulses is smaller, this mode is repeated for the tape travel. When the current number of reel pulses is larger than the reference number of pulses, on the other hand, it is judged that the tape comes to a stop position, and the tape is stopped from being driven and then made to stand by.</p> |
