PURPOSE: To improve power factor and decrease the higher harmonic component of an AC input current by setting the conducting angle of the AC input current at a specified angle. CONSTITUTION: When a switching transistor QS is turned on, a current I1 from a rectifier 4 flows through a smoothing capacitor C1 a primary winding L11 the switching transistor QS and the rectifier 4. At the same time, the smoothing capacitor C1 is discharged. On the side of the primary winding L11, a voltage VT, which is a superposition of a rectified voltage VIN (=|AC input voltage VAC|) and a charging voltage VC for the smoothing capacitor C1, is applied, so that the energy is stored. Thus, the AC input current IAC flows at the conducting angle of 80 deg. of the AC input voltage VAC. |
