Refuse collection vehicle with container hoist

The refuse collection vehicle has a loading hopper (13) mounted above the trough (6) of the loading mechanism (5). The refuse container (20) is lifted into position by a telescopic hoist mounted on the vehicle. The container is closed at the bottom by a hinged flap (21) on a horizontal axle (22). Once in position, the flap (21) is unbolted to swing to the open position (stippled line). The rate of opening is controlled by the pivoted support (31) and two hydraulic jacks. These are also used to close the flap after the container has been emptied.
