An aerial distribution system for deploying items is disclosed. The system comprises a bulk shipping container having a plurality of deployment boxes within. Each deployment box contains at least one item of cargo. A plurality of tethers, each coupling a deployment box to the bulk shipping container, are provided. A freefall retarding device, such as a parachute, is coupled to the bulk shipping container. A method of deploying cargo from a vehicle, such as an aircraft, is also provided. The method includes expelling a bulk shipping container from a vehicle over a location of deployment. Subsequent to deployment, the bulk shipping container releases the plurality of deployment boxes which, in turn, release the cargo. |
