This invention describes a new benzo[5,6]cyclohepta-[1,2 b]pyridine derivative, specifically the compound 8- chloro-6,11-dihydro-11-[4-[(5-methyl-3-pyridyl)methyl]- 1-piperazinyl]-5H-benzo[5,6]cyclohepta[1,2-b]pyridine and its salts and solvates, together with a process for its preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing it. This compound has dual activity as a PAF antagonist and antihistaminic.
