A novel, eight structural polymer of 2-oxygermylpropionic acid having an empirical formula of C6H10Ge2O7, a minimum constitutional unit of (O1/2)3GeCH2CH2COOH and the following stereostructure: <IMAGE> wherein R stands for -CH2CH2COOH and m is an integer of 137+/-84. A pharmaceutical composition containing the novel polymer is useful for preventing symptoms of an immune disease such as hepatitis or for curing such a disease.
