PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aerial image display device which, even when at least a portion of an optical member that bends an optical path is positioned within the visual field of an observer, allows the observer to visually recognize a background overlapping with the optical member within the visual field, and further to observe an aerial image without hardly turning the line of sight away from the front.SOLUTION: An aerial image display device 1 includes an optical plate 3 and an optical member (for example, a half mirror 4). The optical plate 3 condenses light from an object (for example, a display element 2) in the air within or near a visual field V ahead of an observer, and thereby forms the real image R of an image that the object represents in the air. The optical member is at least partly disposed within the visual field V, and is provided in order to bend the optical path of a light heading from the optical plate 3 toward the image-forming position of the real image R. The optical member has such an optical characteristic as to transmit a portion of incident light and reflect the rest.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
