The detector includes input condenser lens (6) which collects light from a source (10), polariser (7) for linear polarisation of the light from the lens, piezo-electric oscillator (2) through which the light passes, and onto which the polarised light is introduced from the polariser, analyser (9) for linearly polarising the light from the piezo-electric oscillator, and an output condenser lens for focusing the linearly polarised light from the analyser. The detector also has several piezo-electric oscillators having different oscillation frequencies arranged between the polariser and analyser. It also has a long wavelength unit (8) between the polariser and the oscillators for circularly polarising the linearly polarised light from the polariser.
