The embankment is constructed on compressed earth. The base (2) is made of successive layers (3) each with a number of strips of geosynthetic material, on edge, which are parallel to each other. The areas defined by the strips are filed with material (6) which is compacted. The strips (4b) of the layer (3b) are placed at right angles to the strips (4a) in the lower layer (3a). Horizontal layers (7) of geosynthetic material are also positioned between some of the layers and may be laid on the ground (1) before the first layer is formed. |
