METHOD OF OPERATION OF METAL CONTINUOUS CASTING PLANT WITH CURVILINEAR TECHNOLOGICAL AXIS AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

FIELD: metallurgy, namely, metal continuous casting systems. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of successive casting of casting ladles; introducing to mold before beginning of each casting process articulation joint type seed with head, provided with shaped cutout on its end; feeding metal to mold; drawing ingot out of it; supporting and directing ingot with use of drive and idle rollers along curvilinear technological axis; cooling surface of ingot by cooling agent sprayed from jets arranged between rollers; changing width of ingot being drawn; between casting operations of casting ladles performing descaling and removing layers of scum from surface of roller barrels along their edges by mechanical destruction over length of portion at end of barrel equal to (0.8-1.4)x(l-l) where l- length of roller barrel; l-width of ingot had been cast (0.8-1.4)- empirical factor. Apparatus for exploitation of plant for metal continuous casting with curvilinear technological axis includes mold and further arranged drive and idle rollers with variable gap between their barrels changing from its maximum value under the mold until minimum value at end of technological axis and articulation joint type seed having separate links with flexible members in their bodies and head with shaped cutout on its end. Seed is provided with additional joint-type links connected with terminal link of seed instead of head. Each additional link is provided with movable cover strips having corrugated outer surface and arranged in pairs at edges along link body at its opposite faces. Each pair of opposite cover strips has flexible members with limiters of displacement value of cover strips in the form of tie rods mounted in body of additional link. EFFECT: enhanced strength of rollers and high-quality of ingots.
