The sound absorption system has a Helmholtz resonator (1) employing a sound wave pressure generator (4), allowing the absorption level and/or the bandwidth of the sound absorption system to be given by simulation of a parameter of the Helmholtz resonator independent of the hollow volume. Pref. the simulated parameter defining the absorption bandwidth of the sound absorption system is proportional to the damping of the air mass within the neck (3) of the Helmholtz resonator.
