A device for chemical and microbiological tests, comprising a sample vessel for temporarily storing a liquid sample, a plurality of sample holders provided on the bottom inside the vessel, and a liquid absorption member provided so as to contact a liquid sample for the purpose of absorbing an excess of the liquid sample over the quantity to be retained by the sample holder when the liquid sample is stored in the vessel. This device can be used for a chemical or microbiological test in which, especially, a plurality of reactions and culture using a comparatively small amount of sample are required. Moreover, it is not necessary to dispense a sample to each reaction system, and the sample is prevented from scattering over the surroundings.
