Normalization method

There is provided a method of normalizing the signal of an assay for an analyte in a biological sample comprising (a) adding an internal indicator to at least one of the assay reagents; (b) performing the assay by adding and/or mixing the assay reagents and reading the signal generated by the internal indicator; (c) reading the signal produced by the assay reagents; and (d) calculating the normalized assay signal.
