The optical fibre coupling has the optical fibre (38) and the transmission and/or reception module (16) positioned on opposite sides of a transparent carrier (12), with the optical axis of the optical fibre extending parallel to the carrier. The positioning structure (36) for the optical fibre provides a light deflection device (42), aligned with the optical fibre provides a light deflection device (42), aligned with the optical fibre axis, for deflecting the light between the optical fibre end face and the module. Pref. the positioning structure is provided by a V-shaped groove etched in the surface of the carrier, the light deflection device provided by mirrored 45 degree surface at the end of the groove.
