A method for prepn. of alk(en)yl oligo-glycoside glycerine ethers comprises: (i) the condensation reaction of anhydrous mixts. of: (a) alk(en)yl oligo-glycosides of formula (I); and (b) fatty alcohols of formula (II) with glycerine, glycerin glycide and/or glycerine carbonate: R<1>O-Gp (I) R<2>OH (II) R<1>, R<2> = 4-22C alk(en)yl; G = 5-6C sugar; and p = 1-10.
