Positioning fixture for beam welding, esp. laser welding, of metal sheets comprises: at least two edge location stops (28, 30) and associated parallel lay down surfaces (31, 34) for two metal sheets (18, 20); a fixed counter plate (10) with a face (12) for holding the sheets in the welding position and a window (14) for the welding beam on the line (46) of the butting edges (22, 24) to be welded; a means of moving the first aligned sheet (20) parallel to the stop face (28) against the face (12) of the counter plate (10); a means of moving the second sheet (18) laterally against the edge (24) of the first sheet (20) and of clamping the second sheet (18) in position against the counter plate (10).
