<p>The invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for limbing standing trees. The limbing apparatus (1) includes a limbing device (60) which can be moved up along the trunk (200) of the tree and which has knot-removing means (63, 64, 73-76). Also included is a telescopic mast (30) which carries the limbing device (60) at its upper end through the medium of a pivotal attachment (40). The telescopic mast (30) is mounted at its lowermost mast section on a vehicle (3) through the medium of an attachment part (10), wherein the limbing apparatus (1) and the limbing device (60) are brought to a desired starting position relative to the trunk (200) with the aid of the vehicle (3). The telescopic mast (30) includes a foot part (20) which is placed on a supportive surface adjacent the tree, and the mast (30) is aligned in relation to the trunk (200) and the limbing means (63, 64, 73-76) on the limbing device (60) are brought to an operative position relative to the trunk (200). The telescopic mast (30) is then extended such as to move the limbing device (60) up the trunk (200) and therewith remove limbs from the trunk to a desired height thereon. The limbing device (60) is guided by the trunk (200) and the device (60) is moved away from the trunk (200) when limbing of the tree has been completed.</p> |
