Local complex permittivity determn. method for therapy control in diagnostic medicine

The method involves using a special miniaturised coaxial probe having inner and outer conductors (1,2). The conductors are separated by a layer of PMMA (3) in tapered formation at the end of a cylinder of PTFE (4). The probe may be used to measure standing waves or reflections of AC electromagnetic field. The field direction may be varied e.g. through a concave contact surface for measurement of the local complex permittivity at a selected depth. Dispersion and absorption may be measured with a reflectance bridge.
