The switch has an electromagnetic release (10), with a magnetic core (11), a magnetic armature (12), coupled to the movable switch contact (27) and a coil (16) which is wound around one limb (13) of the magnetic core. The magnetic core and the magnetic armature are provided by respective U-shaped sheet iron elements, positioned with their arms (14,15;19,20) facing one another, with working air-gaps (a,b) between the free ends of the armature and the core.
