The invention concerns a soft magnetic material which, in addition to iron and cobalt, contains at least one further alloy additive in order to obtain high saturation induction with at the same time high resistivity and good machinability. This is attained by an addition of cobalt which is reduced with respect to known alloys to between 5 and 20 mass %, with the simultaneous addition of an aluminium alloy component and preferably other, manganese or vanadium alloy components.
