Concentrator for focussing solar radiation onto absorber

The concentrator (10) has a flux density meter for measuring the flux density of solar radiation concentrated at the focal point on an absorber (30) the meter having an inlet aperture (86) for accepting part of the solar radiation. A diffuser (70,72,74,106,108,110,112) reduces the density of the solar radiation received by the meter and a detector measures (98) the reduced flux density. The concentrator can have a control system (102) which changes the orientation of the concentrator element relative to the solar radiation according to the measurement result.
