Cleaning metallic workpieces under application of heat in tank

The workpieces are cleaned, in at least one stage of the process, in a sealed tank in which the workpieces are sprayed with a cleaning fluid after which they are sprayed with hot vapour. The workpieces are dried by applying a vacuum to the tank. Heat is applied during the cleaning process to compensate for the cooling of the cleaning fluid which is due to the removal of heat from the fluid for the evaporation process. Used cleaning fluid is replenished with fluid that has been heated. The workpieces can also be heated.
