The filler is made of low-expansion ceramic and comes in cylinder form so the convex endface faces the combustion zone (21) as opposed to the concave endface (22) which faces the premix space (17). The channels connect the concave endface (22) radially with the casing surface and endface (24) of the filler (20). Choke casing (25), adjuster casing (26) and permeable casing (50) are at constant spacing from the periphery of the filler (20). The two casings (25,26) are defined as cylinders rolled from rectangular tube and longitudinally welded plus flat or domed endface. The diameter to length ratio of the casing lies between 0.7 and 4. The permeable casing (5), as also possibly the cylindrical casings, are made of wire mesh so the wire fibres of the filler (20) casing surface are at 35-55 deg. to the longitudinal axis of the casing components.
