The invention relates to agriculture, in particular to the cultivation of plants in natural and artifical soil involving the application of precise quantities of fertiliser to the plant's root system. The invention in essence is a plant food complex comprising the following components: a faecal component with a moisture content of up to 86 % - 20-45 wt.%; ammonia - 0.45-5.5 wt.%; brown coal particles of 10-100 mu m in size - 5.0-15.0 wt.%; complex chlorine-free fertilisers - 5.0-15.0 wt.%; ash particles of 20-100 mu m in size - the rest. The invention also concerns a method of applying the food mixture to the soil by applying the mixture to the root systems of the plants throughout the entire growth period, during which the food mixture is covered with a film of semi-permeable material on a base through which the mixture can pass into the soil at a rate of 7 +/- 1.5 to 23 +/- 7 mg per hour when the temperature t<0> = 15-30 DEG C and the soil moisture content is 20-100 %.
