The mould closing system for a plastic moulding machine, and esp. injection moulding, has upper drawing members (17, 17') in a C-shape with their upper edges below the horizontal plane through the closing force axis, in the zone between the mould clamping plate (13) and the other fixed plate (3), for free access to this zone, between the mould clamping plate (13) and fixed plate (5). The lower drawing members (19) are shaped and dimensioned so that their distortion stiffness in the closing force direction are matched to the upper drawing members (17, 17') so that, on a given closing force, the elongation of the lower members (19, 19') matches that of the upper members (17, 17').
