Centrifugal force produced solely by movements of orbiting scroll and slider block during normal operation tends to keep orbiting scroll and slider block in first position There are members for causing orbiting scroll and slider block to move along flat surface from first position to second position under conditions associated with slowing down and reverse operation whereby pair of scrolls is separated, unimpeded flow path is established through compressor and reversing torque caused by gas loads is decreased by reduction of orbit radius ADVANTAGE : Prevents powered reverse operation in scroll compressor. Prevents noise associated with reverse rotation of scrolls of scroll compressor. Lowers starting torque as result of reduced scroll eccentricity at startup.
