The lamp has a discharge envelope (1') containing a starting amalgam and at least two electrodes with an electrode coil (5) provided with current leads (3',4') at either end, sealed in a glass body (6'). The starting amalgam is provided by a metal plate or grid acting as a carrier (7'), coated with an indium amalgam and partially embedded in the glass body. Pref. the glass body is provided by a glass bead or a glass rod, providing a gas-tight seal of the end of the discharge envelope, in which the carrier is embedded before it is fully hardened. |
