The shunt device, for measuring alternating current, is connected in series with a load and its resistive voltage drop is detected. The shunt comprises a central section (1) with two connecting parts (10,14), either side of this section. These are maintained by a fixing, with a disconnecting strip for the voltage circuit, passing through (13) the connection part (10). The central shunt section may be a cylindrical barrel of an alloy comprising 44 % nickel, 1 % manganese and the remainder copper, called constantan or azidine. The shunt section may have end shoulders and flats for positioning in the connections, which may have mating holes. The fixing may be of polycarbonate with small screws inserted in holes (12,16), in the connections.
