The polarised light wave (6,4) is transmitted (1,2) from the moving reference at an angle (E), relative to its specified axis (5). The receiver (7) is connected to another reference, with measuring devices (8,9,10) to measure the wave polarisation relative to a given axis of this second reference. The relative positions of the two references are first adjusted. The moving reference carries defocussing devices for the polarised wave. The receiver may be formed by a polarisation separating prism, decomposing the light on two axes (7',7''), with the angle measurement comprising a light intensity detector (8) in the first axis (7') and another (9) in the second axis (7''). The light intensity detector outputs may be combined (10), producing a relative signal representing the measured angle.
