This pimelobacter sp. (KCTC 0074BP) isolated from an area of Australia can degrade other highly persistent compound like 2-hydroxypyridine, 2-ethylpyridine, 4-methylpyridine, m-nitrobenzoic acid, 3-chlorobenzoic acid, 4-chlorobenzoic acid, p-bromobenzoic acid, phenol, o-cresol, naphtalene as well as pyridine. In addition, the microbe can be used to treat waste water containing pyridine because it can degrade pyridine under existence of organic compounds.
