PURPOSE: To provide a catheter having excellent operability by arbitrarily adjusting the resilience of a front end part. CONSTITUTION: This catheter consists of a slender tube 1 made of polyurethane or polyamide and at least the front part 5 of the tube is subjected to a softening treatment by impregnating the front part with 0.1 to 30% plasticizer. An internal cavity 9 of the front end part 6 of the front part is expanded stepwise with at least two differences in level toward the opening 8 at the front end, by which the thickness of the tube wall is decreased stepwise. The peripheral edge at the front end of the tube is drawn toward the center of the tube to round the front end. The front part of the catheter is softened by impregnation of the plasticizer in such a manner and the thickness of the tube wall at the front end part is reduced stepwise, by which the softness controlled at a high degree by arbitrarily adjusting the resilience is imparted to the catheter and the induction operability is greatly improved. |
